Batangas Port was declared a national port in
1956. This ensured the city's progress. Serving as a national
port of entry and an alternative port of Manila North Harbor, it
has facilitated the efficient transportation of goods and
services to and from the island provinces. The planned
conversion of the Port of Batangas into an international port of
entry will greatly add dynamism to business and industrial
activities along the Batangas Bay area and other commercial and
industrial zones in the province. Batangas City is the capital
of Batangas province, the lead province in the industrial region
known as the CALABARZON. The coastal city of Batangas is strategically
located at the southeastern portion of the southern portion of
the Southern Tagalog province of Batangas. It is almost
equidistant from Batanes in the northernmost tip of the
Philippines and Jolo in the southernmost tip of the country It can be reached from Manila via a comfortable
two hour drive on well paved roads. Blessed with a natural
harbor,
the city was designed with a lucrative port which serves as an
essential transshipment point of commercial and industrial
activities. |
