*Halaran
- Roxas City, Capiz
Halaran depicts the colorful history and culture of
the Capizeños back to pre-Spanish times,
particularly the landing and settlement of the
Bornean datus. The festival is highlighted by
eating, drinking and dancing to the exotic beat of
drums.
*Inug-Og Festival - Oroquieta City, Misamis
Oriental
Festival of the Subanon culture through tribal
dancing, performance of rituals and street dancing.
*La Naval de Manila - Sto. Domingo, Quezon City
A festival revolving around the image of the Blessed
Virgin Mary of La Naval carved in 1533 and given as
a gift to the Dominican Fathers. A nine-day novena
is held at the Santo Domingo Church culminating with
a religious procession. Held every second week of
October.
*Lanzones Festival - Mambajao, Camiguin
A festival that showcases agro-industrial products,
especially the lanzones fruit and tableau of the
province's heritage through street dancing. Held
every third week of October.
*Masskara Festival - Bacolod City, Negros
Occidental
The biggest annual event that reflects the Bacoleños'
love for fun and gaiety. The festival features sport
competitions, cultural programs, carnivals, fairs,
beauty contests and a long line of Mardi Gras-style
be-costumed and masked street dancers. Held every
third week of October.
*Zamboanga Hermosa Festival
Also known as Fiesta Pilar, the fiesta honors the
miraculous image of Out Lady of Pilar at the
legendary Fort Pilar every second week of October.
Zamboangeños believe that the Lady has served as
their unifying cultural and historical symbol.
Nine-night processsion, fireworks, ethnic parade,
cultural show, regatta, and the Miss Zamboanga
Pageant highlight the festival.
