*Feast
of Our Lady of Remedies - Malate, Manila
A celebration of the feast day of La Nuestra Señora
de los Remedios (Our Lady of Remedies), the
patroness of infanticipating women and of those
seeking cure for illness or solution to problems.
Held every third Sunday of November.
*Feast of San Clemente/Higantes Festival - Angono,
Rizal
A joyous fiesta in honor of San Clemente whose
image, resplendent in papal vestment is borne by
male devotees during a procession accompanied by "pahadores"
(devotees dressed in colorful costumes, wooden shoes
and carrying boat paddles) and "higantes" (giant
paper maché effigies). Held every 4th week of
November.
*Pintaflores - San Carlos City, Negros Occidental
A street dancing of the "pintados" or dancers with
tattoos of flowers on their bodies. The originality
and gracefulness of the dancers makes the festival a
must see for tourists and locals alike. This annual
event is being held every 03-05 November.
*Todos Los Santos - Nationwide
Also known as All Saints' Day, it is regarded as
simply another celebration in a calendar already
dotted with festivities. This time, however, candles
are lit on the first to the second day of November.
Rosaries are carried, and prayers are offered to
those who have passed away. It is just another
reason for Filipinos to reunite with their families.
It is, in fact, a national holiday - one spent in
the surprisingly festive atmosphere of the cemetery,
enjoying the company of loved ones both living and
dead.
*Helobong Festival (T-Boli) Lake Sebu, South
Cotabato
One of the prettiest places in the Philippines
becomes even more attractive this month, as its
residents celebrate a week-long culture fiesta. See
the T'Boli culture in its colorful best through the
natives traditional songs, dances and crafts. Held
every second week of November.
*Kahilwayan Festival/Cry of Sta. Ana - Sta.
Barbara, Iloilo
Anchored upon the Cry of Santa Barbara Celebration,
Kahilwayan Festival is a cultural festival in a
dance-drama form which is a reenactment of sort of
the struggle for freedom by our very own local folks
led by the heroic Gen. Martin G. Delgado. Aptly
dubbed as Kahilwayan Festival, Kahilwayan being an
Ilonggo/Hiligaynon word which means Freedom or
Liberty, it highlights the quest of the Ilonggos to
attain freedom through their fierce independent
spirit. Held ever 17 November.
*Sandurot Festival - Dumaguete City, Negros
Oriental
Celebrate with the people of Dumaguete. Experience
their innate hospitality, friendliness, and their
propensity to live harmoniously with people of
different race, religion, and cultural beliefs.
Through the course of history and to the present
time, the people of Dumaguete have always been known
to welcome strangers from different shores and
countries, and to live with them in complete peace
and understanding. Held every 22 November.
*Lapu-lapu City Fiesta, Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu
Join the colorful rites to honor the Virgin of the
Rule, patron of Lapu-Lapu City. Boats set to sea in
fluvial procession by devotees who credit the Virgin
for the prosperity of what was once a sleepy fishing
village. Held every 21 to 22 November.
