gaily-decorated carriages highlighted by water
dousing among the participants.. Held every 24 June.
*Independence Day - Nationwide
Filipinos celebrate Independence Day every 12 June
in observance of the country's independence from
foreign domination. It is marked by simultaneous
flag-raising ceremony on the balcony of the Emilio
Aguinaldo shrine and in front of Rizal Monument in
Luneta.
*Parada ng Lechon - Balayan, Batangas
The parading on the Feast of St. John the Baptist of
"dressed" and decorated lechons (roasted pigs)
around town. Revelers partake of the lechons after
the parade. Held every 24 June.
*Tacloban Pintados Festival -Tacloban City
Back during pre-Hispanic years, tattoos signified
courage among the natives of Tacloban. These days
they symbolize a cultural revival, and a wild, wacky
fiesta called the Pintados. Join the town residents
as they deck themselves out in body paint, mimicking
the warriors of old while dancing to the frenetic
beat of drums. Held every 29 June.
