New Year - Chinatown, Manila
Manila's Chinatown virtually explodes with wild and
endless fireworks, sparklers, parties and lauriat
feasts to welcome the year of the Rat.
*Feast of Our Lady of Candles - Jaro, Iloilo
The biggest and most opulent religious pageantry in
Western Visayas takes place in Jaro, Iloilo.
Pilgrims gather at the Shrine of Nuestra Señora de
Candelaria for homage and to have their candles
blessed. A grand coronation of the fiesta queen
follows after the religious procession. This is
being held every 2nd of February.
*International Bamboo Organ Festival - Las Piñas
Church
This is being held annually through a ten-day series
of cultural performances. It centers on the unique
Bamboo Organ built by Father Diego Cera in 1822.
Performing artists often include international
celebrities in the field of music.
*Laoag City Fiesta - Laoag City, Ilocos Norte
Celebration of the founding of Laoag City with
series of activities such as Balikbayan night, and
agro-industrial fair. This is being held every 10
February.
*Panagbenga Flower Festival - Baguio City,
Benguet
It is an annual tribute to the flowers. Baguio folks
take a break on these days to revel in the cool
climate and the unique culture of their city.
Multi-hued costumes are worn, mimicking the various
blooms of the highland region. There are also the
half-dozen or so flower beds - disguised, of course,
as the Panagbenga parade floats. Held every weekend
after Valentine's day.
*Philippine Balloon Fiesta - Clark Field,
Pampanga
The international festival brings to the Philippines
Hot Air Balloons enthusiasts from various countries.
Disembarking "en masse" in Clark Field, the huge,
colorful balloons are flown over Angeles City and
its environs.
