Festival - Tanjay, Negros Oriental
A month-long religious festival being practiced
since the Spanish times by devotees of Señor San
Roque who is believed to drive away evil spirits,
diseases and pestilence.
*Kadayawan Festival - Davao City
Davao's area is home to the most number of ethnic
groups in the Philippines. Busloads of revelers
begin to arrive on the eve of the festival to take
part in the nightly concerts and food fests. These
flurry of festivities reach a glorious climax two
days later when the grand Kadayawan parade is held
featuring more than a dozen ethnic groups dancing to
the beat of wooden drums. Held every third week of
August.
*Kagayhaan Festival - Cagayan de Oro, Misamis
Oriental
Held every 26-28 August, this is an annual event in
honor of the city's patron, St. Augustine. A Mardi
Gras style of street dancing participated by
students from different schools, as well as civic
organizations and parade of floats highlight the
festival.
*Pasaka Festival - Tanauan, Leyte
An annual festival being held every 14 August. A
dance parade and cultural presentation (comparza),
Pasaka which connotes warm welcome, progress and
religious homage.
*Sakay-Sakay Lambago - Cagayan de Oro, Misamis
Oriental
A component activity of the annual city fiesta
celebration, boat racing along Cagayan de Oro river
highlights the fiesta. Held every 28 August.
